Why We Oppose This Proposal

The proposed Cheddington NESS004 allocation would create a substantial new settlement on a scale far beyond the existing village. Serious questions remain over why Cheddington was brought back into consideration, whether the evidence supports its selection and whether development on this scale is genuinely deliverable.

Key concerns include rail and road capacity, infrastructure funding, water and wastewater, loss of productive farmland, heritage, landscape and wildlife, as well as the cumulative impact on Cheddington, Mentmore and surrounding communities.

Until these issues are properly evidenced, funded and addressed, we believe the proposal should not be taken forward in the Local Plan.
